Names and sources

Accepted Name Source
Kyphosus sectatrix (Linnaeus, 1758)
Published in:Knudsen, S.W. & Clements, K.D. 2013, "Revision of the fish family Kyphosidae (Teleostei: Perciformes)", Zootaxa, vol. 3751, no. 1, pp. 1-101
Synonym Source
Kyphosus pacificus Sakai & Nakabo, 2004 [this name was used in Australia between 2004 and 2013] Linnaeus, 1758 synonym

Knudsen & Clements (2013) in a revision of the Kyphosidae, synonymised K. pacificus with K. sectatrix, so the latter is the valid name. Middleton Reef & Lord Howe I.) and Norfolk I. but is probably more widespread.

Kyphosus bigibbus [see Knudsen & Clements 2013 for details] Linnaeus, 1758 synonym
