An AMS specimen of G. melanospilus cited by Russell et al 1983 (Fishes of the Capricorn Bunker Group) is a misidentification of G. fimbriatus. G. isingteena is confirmed from One Tree Island (Qld, c. 23 30 S), New Year I (NT, 133 01 E), Ashmore Reef and northern WA southwards to Coral Bay (23 08 S), in 1-100
