I.R.Thompson & P.Y.Ladiges, Muelleria 9: 145-159 (1996), only placed one of these (the spathulate-leaved variant placed in C. franklinensis), and implied that the others (presumably excluding the 'type variant') should be referred to C. lilacina, the solution adopted here.
