This species was recorded from Norfolk Island by Mueller (1866) as Davallia flaccida, by Bentham (1878) as Dicksonia davallioides, and by Maiden (1904) under the name Dennstaedtia davallioides. These records are thought to be based on mislabelled specimens held in Kew (P.S.Green, 1994).
