Corcobado, G. & Whyte, R. 2017, "Revision of eastern Australian ant-mimicking spiders of the genus Myrmarachne (Araneae, Salticidae) reveals a complex of species and forms.", Zoological Journal of the Linnean Society, vol. 179, 642-676 (explains that one of the syntypes of <I>M. simoni</I> is an example of <I>M. luctuosa</I> while the original description (and presumably the second, lost, syntype) is an example of <I>M. erthyrocephala</I>. They place the name in the synonomy of the former but without making the available specimen a lectotype; thus nomenclatural ambiguity remains.)
