The original spelling of this name was Lechenaultia, but Bentham in Endlicher (1837) and de Candolle (1839) introduced the variant spelling Leschenaultia, which was used fairly consistently from then until the 1950s. A gradual return to the original spelling then occurred. See D.A.Morrison, Brunonia 9: 6 (1987) for discussion. |
