Names and sources

Accepted Name Source
Vermiliopsis infundibulum (Linnaeus, 1788)
 • AFD
Published in:Hutchings, P.A. & Johnson, R.T. 2011, "Lumbrineris latreilli Audouin & Milne Edwards, 1834" (Harry ten Hove (ms) states that this is one of the most difficult complexes of serpulids. Even after studying about 1000 specimens from all over the world, including many of the types, he has not been able to find a general pattern. A distribution as broad as from the Mediterranean, Atlantic and Australia is unlikely. For the time being he considers all names given in the selected synonymy as belonging to one and the same species. It remains unresolved if this is the same as the Mediterranean Vermiliopsis infundibulum sensu stricto)
