These data were collected as part of a biodiversity survey for south east Australian Marine Protected Areas including the Tasmanian Sea Mounts Marine Reserve conducted by CSIRO in 2007, including a revisit of our seamounts photographed in 1997. Data are from 54 sampling stations and specimens for selected species are lodged with various Australian museums.

  2. Data resource: Seabird Observations, Storm Bay, Tasmania, Australia, 1991-1994

Survey data from 9 trips on the 52 m industrial waste dumping vessel, the Anson, from May-Sept 1994. Jarosite, a zinc processing waste product was dumped off the continental shelf southeast of Tasmania. This dataset is of seabird sightings from the northern extant of Storm bay to the dump site. Other zinc dump trips in 1988 and 1991 are in SouthEast Seabird Survey. Data published in Coarse-scale relationships between seabirds and zooplankton off south-eastern Tasmania, Timothy A...

  3. Data resource: CSIRO, Cruise SS200705, Benthic Biodiversity, Northwest Australia, 2007

These data were collected on Southern Surveyor Voyage SS 05/2007, which aimed to study the benthic biodiversity of the tropical deep continental shelf and slope in Australia's north west region. Sampling was undertaken using benthic sleds and commercial size fish trawls. The voyage took place between Dampier and Darwin in June-July 2007. Reports, metadata and other data from this voyage are at https://www.marine.csiro.au/data/trawler/survey_details,cfm?survey=SS200705

  4. Data resource: CSIRO, Cruise SS200510, Benthic Biodiversity, Western Australia, 2005

These data were collected as part of a study on the benthic biodiversity of the deep continental shelf and slope in Australia's south west region. The scientific objectives for the survey were split across two voyages (SS07/2005 for leg 1 and SS10/2005 for leg 2)...

  5. Data resource: CSIRO, Rachel Cruises, Shark Data, Arafura Sea, North Australia, 1984

Biological data collected on 12 Cruises of the chartered fishing vessel "Rachel" in the Arafura Sea between January 1984 and May1985. The dataset consists of length, sex, species identity data for sharks, mainly Carcharhinus tilstoni, Carcharhinus sorrah, Scomberomorus commerson and Thunnus tonggol, from gillnet and longline samples. This dataset was collected as part of the CSIRO Northern Pelagic Fish Stock Research Project.

  6. Data resource: RV Investigator Voyage IN2016_T02 Seabird Observations, Australia (2016)

Seabird and incidental cetacean and seal sightings were recorded during daylight hours during the transit from Hobart to Sydney, May 2016. This voyage was used as a trial of acquiring observations from the RV Investigator observation deck and testing the data recording system. Observations were made every ten minutes in the forward quadrant. There were 393 observations from 33 species of birds, 3 cetaceans and one seal...
