Brief description: White underparts with incomplete brown stripes across chest. Brown head and olive-bronze iridescent back and tail. White stripes above and below eye.
Description : Upperparts pale iridescent brown to bronze-green; top of head duller. Underparts white with broken bronze stripes. Face white with dark-brown stripe through the eye. Tail white underneath with dark brown stripes, upper tail feathers have red-brown (rufous) edges. Males call with a descending trill. Body up to 17 cm long.
Biology : Female Horsfield's Bronze-cuckoos are nest parasites, laying a single egg in a host's nest. Hosts are typically wrens, thornbills and robins.
Habitat: Forests and woodlands, particularly dry forests and grasslands with scattered dead trees.
Native status: Native to Australia
